Artist's Comments

FINISHED (Graphite version).

I've always been fond of the irony that Lord Sesshoumaru ("killing perfection") ended up with Tenseiga, the life-giving sword. :)

Concept: "Life-giving Perfection" is not exclusively a "token" to the combined effect of Sesshoumaru's strenght and Tenseiga. Rin was reborn thanks to that, but unbecknowingly, Rin gave Sesshoumaru's life a gradually diferent meaning.

Plus, every glimpse of emotion behind Sess' cold mask is precious. It's rare, and so ephemeral, it always leaves you in doubt whether it ever existed. I wanted to capture one of those possible moments, without being untrue to the character.

HB #5 mech pencil; HB #7 mech pencil; 2B and 3B graphite pencils. Lots of patience. Used photoshop to horizontally flip the hand to correct that mistake (it was bugging me!).

NOTE: Sesshoumaru and Rin are of course not my characters. ;) About 50% of the drawing was done by studying ref-pictures, including the poses (had to complete and adapt a-lot). So, I can't take full credit for this.

Wow.The poses are excellent,and Sesshomaru's hand on Rin's head is amazing =D
I cant wait to see the shading ;)
:iconnarya13:
Thank you! Of course, as I said, this was done from about 10 diferent pictures (poses are mostly references, changed proportions to fit the characters). I wish I could come up with something like this out of my own head.
Updating the lineart now. Can't say if I like Sesshoumaru's face (no ref there).
I'll pick this up later :)

I think his head may be a bit too small, that could be what's bugging you.

Cute pic :D

This is really AWSOME!! I must say that I'm a fond of thet irony too! :D :D
I love this, it's so sweet~
But you said you wanted comments on how to improve your art and that comes now ;P
This is already really great, but I'm sure it will be even better if you color it! :D And some more details in Rins hair would be awsome too! :3
Hmmm, and if I had to say more, it'd be maby to draw Rin's original clothes.. that kimono of her's. But that won't make a very big difference.. ;D
And at last, maby another watermark. this one ruins the lineart a little :D
But remember, your art is really great already, those are just tiny tips and won't change much ;D

Will try to make it larger... it's supposed to be at an angle (ya know, chin closer to the chest) so it is bound to appear smaller. I think it's the angle that I am not getting quite right, but I've been watching picture and the anime in hopes of spotting a picture in this angle (Sess's or another char) and I still haven't found any. :(
Thanks for the tip and the comment!

Thank you so much for your help! I have printed the scan to work on Rin's kimono (perspective is a nuisance) without ruining the already existing lineart (and marking the paper). This is just the basic lineart - no major details here yet.
Ah, the watermark is there on purpose - since I've had a few episodes on stolen drawings (one of them just this week), and this is a in-between step to the final piece, I'm acting a bit paranoid. :p
:iconmei-moon:
No problem! :D
I see, that was smart, marking is so boring! xD
If that's the case, then I understand why you use watermarks! art thieves are the worst

Yes... it really "hurts". Especially when the people _refuse_ to admit to the theft. Oh well...
:iconmei-moon:
Yea... It haven't happened to me, but I can imagine how it feels :(
